Ahmad Allahbakhsh, PhD

Biosketch

Dr. Ahmad Allahbakhsh completed his Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering at Tabrbiat Modares University in July 2017.

During his Ph.D. studies, he focused on colloidal polymer and graphene-based hydrogels and aerogels, conducting theoretical and experimental studies. Additionally, he explored the self-assembly of graphene quantum dots into hyper-porous nanostructures. Before and during his Ph.D. studies, he worked extensively in the fields of graphene/polymer nanocomposites and sustainable composites.

After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Department of Materials and Polymer Engineering at Hakim Sabzevari University in 2018. In 2022, Ahmad visited Belgium for a two-year research program. His proposal, entitled “Deciphering the mechanism of interaction between cellulose-producing bacteria and graphene quantum dots to develop Engineered living biomaterials,” received funding from the Civis3i program (co-funded by the MSCA-H2020). Since then, Ahmad has extended his research to the development of a new class of living materials for different engineering and bioengineering applications.

After returning to Iran in 2024, Ahmad was appointed Head of Department in the newly established Department of Polymer Engineering at Hakim Sabzevari University. His current role involves teaching and researching various soft matter aspects, including living materials, graphene-based nanostructures, polymer nanocomposites, and energy storage systems.
